Utah Men’s Tennis Defeats Denver 6-1

BC7F9275.JPGSALT LAKE CITY – Utah Men’s Tennis opened their second weekend of home matches with a 6-1 win over the University of Denver.

Utah earned the early edge by taking the doubles point. David Micevski and Egbert Weverink defeated Pedro Del Valle and Jesse Ruder-Hook, 6-4 at the No. 2 position, while Parker McGuiness and Slava Shaniyan defeated Zach Fryer and Diogo Rocha, 7-6 at the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, Dan Little was dominant at the No. 2 position defeating Yannik James 6-2, 6-1. Competing at the No. 3 spot, Parker McGuiness cruised to a victory over Alex Gasson 6-4, 6-2 as the Utes quickly took a 3-0 lead. Shortly after, David Micevski defeated Diogo Rocha after a very competitive match at the No. 1 position, 6-4, 6-2. Finally, to finish things off for the Utes, Shaniyan completed a great comeback at the No. 5 position, defeating Pedro Del Valle 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Utes will finish out their second weekend of home matches on Sunday, as they take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (9 a.m.), and then Montana State (1 p.m.) at the Eccles Tennis Center.
