Utes Struggle on Day 2 in Tulsa

Tulsa, OK – After a promising start at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday, the Utes struggled on the second day in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Junior Egbert Weverink earned the only victory for Utah, defeating Mike Psarross (UMKC) in a close 3-set match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in a consolation match.

In the 3rd round of the pre-qualifying draw, sophomore Joe Woolley struggled to find any kind of rhythm against Texas Tech’s Connor Curry and was easily defeated 6-3, 6-0.

After losing the first set, senior Parker McGuiness posted an impressive comeback against former No. 1 junior in the US, Joseph DiGuilio (UCLA), but saw his efforts unrewarded 6-1, 7-6(5).

The Utes will continue play in Tulsa on Monday in the qualifying draw. Sophomore David Micevski will compete in the singles qualifying draw, while Egbert Weverink and Joe Woolley will pair up to play in the doubles draw. Both draws and match times will be posted later today.
