SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Utah Men’s Tennis was named as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and six student-athletes were also honored. Santiago Sierra, Matt Cowley, Egbert Weverink, Dan Little, Parker McGuiness and Caleb Brand were all selected as ITA Scholar Athletes.
All six Utes had grade point averages of 3.6 or higher as the team accrued a cumulative 3.4 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year. Stanford, UCLA and Oregon were also named ITA All-Academic Teams and only the Cardinal had more student-athletes recognized (7) than Utah.
In order to earn ITA Scholar Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of 3.5 or better for the current academic year and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2015 and spring 2016).
Congratulations Gentleman and GO UTES!!
