Salt Lake City, UT- On Wednesday June 8th, the ITA had their annual draft of teams who qualified for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Among the teams selected were the Utes of Utah. This tournament will be the first major test of 2017 for a young Utes squad.
The Utes will be the #4 seed in the Ohio State bracket, and will travel to Columbus to play the Buckeyes. Depending on the result, the Utes will then face either Old Dominion or Denver.
The Utes are one of seven Pac-12 schools to qualify, joining USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington.
“It’s a great honor to be selected to play in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and to face such a storied program in Ohio State in the 1st round.” said Utes Head Coach Roeland Brateanu. “Including Ohio State we are most likely facing 5 top 10 teams on the road this year, which will be incredibly tough, but will help our players improve.”
The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb. 17-20, 2017 ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by the University of Virginia at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
Goodluck gentleman, and GO UTES!!
