Utah Travels to Face No. 29 Washignton and No. 39 Oregon

The University of Utah men’s tennis team (16-5, 0-2) travels to the Pacific Northwest this weekend in search of its first Pac-12 win of the season. After very close losses at home to No. 16 California and 17-Time NCAA Champion Stanford last weekend, the Utes look to get back on track against No. 29 Washington (14-5, 1-1) on Fri., Apr. 1 at 5 p.m. PT, and No. 39 Oregon (13-4, 0-2) on Sun., Apr. 3 at 12 p.m. PT.

Last weekend, Freshman David Micevski improved his singles record to 14-3 with a gutsy 6-3, 6-3 win versus 56th ranked David Wilczynski at the No. 2 position. Senior Matt Cowley holds a 12-4 doubles record and has played with Jamey Swiggart (7-2), Parker McGuiness (1-0), and currently Dan Little (4-2).

The Washington Huskies are currently ranked No. 29 in the nation. Notable wins for the Huskies have come against No. 21 Texas (W, 4-3) and No. 9 USC (W, 4-3). Mitch Stewart is their top singles player, ranking at No. 84 nationally.

The Oregon Ducks hold the No. 39 ranking so far this season. They are 5-4 against ranked teams. The Ducks are led by No. 94-ranked Daan Maasland. The Ducks also have the 20th-ranked doubles team in Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno, who have a pair of wins over top-35 competition. The Ducks are currently on a three match losing streak.
