University of Utah men’s tennis player Slim Hamza has won the first round of the ITF Futures main draw event in Sousse, Tunisia, in both singles and doubles. On Tuesday, the rising senior beat Pavel Snobel (CZE), 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 to reach the second, where he will face second seeded Sam Barry (IRL) on Thursday.
In doubles play, Hamza and partner Moez Echargui, beat second seeded Arkadius Kocyla (POL) and Matteo Marfia (ITA) 6-4, 6-1. In the quarterfinals they will face the French tandem of David Couronne and Theo Fournerie.
