Junior Slim Hamza has been named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week. It marks the second time that Hamza claims Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.
Assistant coach Roeland Brateanu commended Hamza, “We are very happy for Slim and proud of his accomplishments on the court this weekend against Oregon and Washington.”
Slim led his team to two road victories this last weekend at the No. 1 singles position. Hamza won a crucial three-set win over No. 110 Robin Cambier of 27th ranked Oregon last Friday, and he closed out the road trip with another three-set victory over Washington’s Emmett Egger.
It’s the first time in Utah history that two different players receive Pac-12 Player of the Week honors in the same season. Ben Tasevac received the honor in late January.
Hamza, Tasevac and the Utes will host #3 UCLA on Friday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. MT and #2 USC on Sunday, April 13 at 11 a.m. MT. on Senior Day.
