The University of Utah men’s tennis team (11-11, 1-5 Pac-12) will host the University of Arizona (10-12, 0-6 Pac-12) on Saturday at 12pm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Weather permitting, the match will be played at Liberty Park. In case of inclement weather, the match will be moved to the Eccles Tennis Center.
Last year, Utah earned its first ever Pac-12 regular season victory over the Wildcats in Tucson, Arizona, 5-2.
Saturday’s match will be the Utes’ last home match of the 2013 campaign and the last regular season match of the year before heading to the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California.
Please join Utah in celebration of Senior Day, as the Utes will honor lone senior Dmytro Mamedov. Mamedov, born and raised in the Ukraine, has competed for the top singles position at the U for the past three years. He currently has a career record of 62-58 and ranked as high as No. 54 in the nation. He will graduate from the U with a bachelor’s degree in PRT Hospitality Management and a minor in Business.
After losing four straight matches to college tennis powerhouses UCLA, USC, Cal and Stanford the Utes just fell out of this week’s national team rankings. However, Slim Hamza retained his position in the ITA Singles Rankings at #108.
