The University of Utah men’s tennis team is currently preparing for the 2012 ITA Men’s All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Utes will be represented by a record 5 players.
It marks the first time in the current ranking system that the Utes will be represented by two players in the main draw. Junior Dmytro Mamedov, ranked No. 48 in the nation, was an automatic qualifier based on his regional ranking, while No. 37 ranked Slim Hamza is an at-large bid. Mamedov and Hamza will start main draw action on Thursday October 4.
“We are very excited to have two players selected for the main draw,” said head coach FD Robbins. “It is a great opportunity for Dmytro and Slim to measure themselves with the very best college tennis has to offer and I am looking forward to see what Alejandro, Devin and Rafa can do in the pre-qualifying.”
