The semifinals at the Ivory Homes Adult Utah State Championships will be all red, as one former and three current Utes will square off for Utah’s ultimate prize.
No. 1 seeded Dmytro Mamedov rolled into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Shon Eckert.
Juniors Alejandro Medinilla and Ben Tasevac squared off in quarterfinal play Wednesday. With the match tied 6-7(10), 6-3, 3-3 Tasevac was forced to retire with a shoulder injury that has been nagging him all summer long. Medinilla and Mamedov will play each other next in the semifinals Friday at 6.00pm at Liberty Park.
In the bottom half of the draw, Junior Devin Lane beat former Ute standout and No. 2 seeded Brandon Owen 7-5, 6-0. Lane will face former Ute player Nik Yip in semifinal action on Friday at 6.00pm at Liberty Park.
