Phillip Eilers Named ITA Regional Player of the Year

SKILLMAN, N.J. -Utah men’s tennis player Phillip Eilers has been voted the ITA Mountain Region Senior Player of the Year

Eilers, already honored as the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, finished his senior campaign with a 21-11 singles record, going 5-1 in league play. He earned his second consecutive All-MWC awards in both singles and doubles. During the fall season, Eilers teamed with freshman Alex Golding to win the Mountain Regional doubles championship and became the first Ute duo to compete in the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championships in more than 20 years.

“I would like to congratulate Phillip on winning this prestigious award,” said men’s head coach F.D. Robbins. “There were many other great candidates from the region but I feel Phil really rose to the top and deserves this award. He has made a great impact on our team. We have been very fortunate to have had him for the past two years. He has developed into a very good player and has won many important matches for us.”
